An underused plant producing many, round, yellow, tufted flowers produced from mid to late-Spring on bright green. Winter attractive stems.
Leaves mid green, turning yellow in Autumn.
Plant as a specimen or enmasse.
For inclusion in shrub or mixed borders. Especially in cottage gardens.
It is planted 80cm(2ft 6 in) apart in a single line makes an attractive informal hedge.
Height and Spread in 10 years: 2.5mx2.5m(8 ft x 8ft).
Position: Full sun to medium shade on a wide range of soil conditions.
Hardy.
Planting: Soak the root-ball before planting. Plant in a hole twice the diameter of the root-ball or pot. Mix an organic soil improver and general fertiliser with the infill soil. Water regularly until established.
Plant care: Reduce all previous year's shoots to within 5cm(2 in) of ground level to encourage new growth on an annual basis, or leave unpruned for 4-5 years and then carry out the same technique.
